The latest version (1.1) of "G" Thang guitar design web software has been released. "G" Thang is available for free use for most users. New features in this release include:

  • Instrument designs can now be exported as PDFs for easier printing.
  • A number of sanity checks have been added in the areas of string spacing and fretboard divergence. "G" Thang will warn if the design contains unusual string spacings and fretboard tapers.
  • An instrument initialization for the baritone ukulele has been added to the instruments already available in the Initialize menu.
  • A parameter has been added to specify the radius of the fretboard playing surface. The side view drawing reflects this value, and a number of sanity checks relating to it have been added.
  • Facilities to design cross section shapes of the neck shaft and heel have been added.
  • A sized body tool has been added. This enables you to quickly select and scale a "standard" body type, based on the current scale length. Want a soprano uke with a body shaped like a jumbo guitar? Set the scale length, select the jumbo body type, and it is done.

Information about running "G" Thang and a link to run it are available here:

Complete documentation is available from "G" Thang's Help menu.

"Seems cool, can it run on iOS?"

It is a web application. It runs in the browser, so it is not dependent on the OS. Works best in Chromium-based browsers running on devices with a mouse.

Thanks for making it available.
I did not get very far with it before needing to read the help page. Unfortunately the scroll bar overlaps the text, making it difficult to read.

Up date, got rid of the issue by changing from full screen to a smaller window.
